♦people were still just as violent if not more towards black people especially towards protesters.
♦protesters were getting expelled from their colleges.
♦racism was still a major problem whether or not black people could ride the bus's or be served at a restaurant.

I think that there is more progression then regression because there has been racism problems in the U.S. for hundreds of years and in about 50 years the way people saw black people was changing quickly. Black people could be served in restaurants, ride the buses and over 60% were registered to vote. Even though the changes seemed small compared to how much still needed to be changed, the fact that so many changes were made in such a short period of time is enough to say that there is some major progression.
